About Villa Castelletti
Via Castelletti 5, Signa (Florence)
The origin of the name “Castelletti” can be considered toponymic because none of the inhabitants from the Renaissance to date bore this name. The first owner of record is the Strozzi family. It is not believed that they are connected with the origin of the villa since it is considered to have been built in the early fourteen hundreds. At the end of the seventeenth century, the villa was enlarged by adding lateral sides, a second floor, and a roof terrace.
In the last century, under the guidance of the owner, Count Leopoldo Cattani Cavalcanti, Villa Castelletti entered a significant period of its history. Transformed into a model farmstead, the most important initiative taken was the founding of the agricultural philanthropical institute.
